Weather & Tides

When planning to go anywhere near the coast be it for bait collecting, fishing, or just out for a wander with the family it is absolutely essential to know the times of the tides.

All through the year people are being “rescued” by the RNLI because they have been cut off from the mainland by rising tides. Mumbles Head, Worms Head and Burry Holmes are the three main areas that this happens. But its also easy to become cut off if you are clambering over rocks at low water and you don’t see the tide rising around you.

You can pick up a “tide table” at a local tackle shop.

Alternatively take a look at the National Tidal and Sea Level Facility web site.

Weather is just as important as the tide times and can both affect the fishing and the state of the tide. Make sure you check the marine forecast as well as the normal met office forecast before you go.
