If you want to get your own bait then you have the whole of the Gower to choose from. So what will you need?
First up check the tide times safety is always your number one priority. As far as gear is concerned this will depend on what bait you want to get. Whatever you decide make sure someone knows where you are going and what time you will be back, a mobile phone is a good idea but should not be relied on as from many beaches you will not get a signal
Crab can be picked from many beaches around the Gower, most of the bays have rocky or stony areas especially around the headlands. If you’re looking at worms, lug can be dug from around most of the sandy beaches at low water, the beaches that are relatively flat are usually your best bet but you may have a long walk out. Rag can be dug from the estuaries but these are dangerous areas with high sand banks and extremely fast flowing water. If you are not familiar with the area I would recommend this bait is bought from a shop.
